Hello. I finished building my first budget pc http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dHDVf7 and I wanted to record files using MSI Afterburner. I heard writing video files to the HDD your OS is on is bad. I cannot afford another HDD at the moment however, but i still own my previous store bought computer and it has been doing recording and rendering for me for about 5 years now and I planned on using my old pc for art and daily tasks, but I want to use its HDD for writing my New PC's video files to it, without actually removing the HDD from my old pc because I still want to use it for daily use. Is what Im trying to do even possible? thanks.

(Detailed question) So basically I want to have both my computers on, play and record on my new pc and have the data written to my old pc

Assuming both PCs are connected to the same router:

Create and share a folder on the other PC
Connect to that shared folder from your main PC
Give that share a drive letter - call it drive R, for instance. "R" for recording.
Tell your recording software to save to the R drive

Now you just have to deal with the network overhead. Try it. It might work better, it might not.
But try it and see what happens.
