I don't know what your budget is, but if you can afford around $300, I would highly recommend this card. It just came out and is a serious powerhouse.

Performance wise they are the same.Temps wise might differ a little but nothing significant. Noise leve wise I've heard ASUS gpu's are pretty quite but I have a gigabyte GPU and it doesn't make much noise either. It's just personal preference. I like ASUS GPU's because they have metal back plate on gpu's to protect those delicate parts.

Here is the cheapest GTX 770 I could find. It is $299 up front with a $20 mail-in rebate.

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card ($281.98 @ Newegg)

Here is the GTX 970 that is $329 with no rebate. So it is really only $30 more, and is well worth the extra money. It is quite a large jump in performance over the 770.

Alright, then I think you are right. The AMD cards are usually more performance for the money.
