Hey Toms,
I'm off to University on Wednesday and am looking to buy a new system as I am having to leave my current rig at home as it is technically the family computer. I have a fair amount of money saved up so I am going for a decent build and will most likely continue to fiddle with some overclocking.
My current system was built in 2011 and seeing as my priorities have changed slightly I have a few questions on what I need. The systems main uses will be heavy gaming and a fair amount CAD software as I am studying Engineering.
1) Would an Intel i5-2500K overclocked to 4.5GHz (current) be more powerful than a stock i7-4790K?
2) Is 8GB of RAM still sufficient? Or should I move up to 16GB?
3) I have been seeing more and more talk of DDR4 RAM of late, is it worth the premium over high speed DDR3?
4) What size PSU would you recommend for a system running a GTX 970 with a strong possibility of moving to twin 970s in the future?
5) Is an SSD worth the purchase considering I have no problem with the loading speeds on my current system which uses a conventional hard drive. If so, what would I store on the SSD and what would I store on the hard drive?
Thanks for all your help, it means a lot as per usual!
