I have a 4 month old ASUS M5A99FX PRO 2.0 motherboard. Normally it just posts a OK and goes on its merry way. But today on my first boot attempt it gave me 1 long beep 4 short (Never heard of that error code before) and then booted normally. Second time there was no post beep and a red light lit up near the ram, the cpu, then the video card, and then booted normally.

Should I be concerned as much as I am?

Find the documentation that came with the motherboard or, if you don't have that, look online. It will explain the beep codes and the meaning of the red LED. I would say yes, you should be concerned. It could be an indication of a problem that is only going to get worse unless the cause is remedied.

This is what i found.
The POST state LEDs provide the status of these key components. If an error is found, the critical component's LED stays lit up until the problem is solved.
I find this strange because the LEDs turn on and off one after another, and turned off before the next lit up. (only one that didn't light was hard drive) And after the LEDs turned off it booted like normal. Also I noticed when i plug my phone into the same surge protector it sometimes says slow charging due to low current. Could simply be this old surge protector is on it's last legs and is giving an inconsistent amount of power. Booted perfectly fine again today, single POST beep to the green light like normal, but i plug in my phone and it's charging slow for a few minutes and normal the next.
