I'm having real trouble picking parts for a gaming pc. My price range is $1200 and please include a good monitor and keyboard(wired). I would also prefer Windows 7.

Or should I just go back and buy a good gaming laptop for 1200? Please help

Nah, desktop is the only way for true gaming ^^, my connection is too slow atm to pick parts but aim for a i7-4770k CPU, 8-16GB RAM (8 will be fine enough for a while), and most important the GPU, with that budget I'd spend at the very least 400$ on it so aim for at least a Nvidia GTX770 / AMD R9 290 in video card, get also a SSD for OS and a 1-2TB HDD for storage.
