Diagnosing whether ASUS R9 280 is defective??

I recently upgraded to a ASUS R9 280. However I'm debating whether the card is working right. I have a 2 VGA monitor setup using adapters. I connect 1 sceen via VGA-->DVI-D and one with VGA-->Reg. Display. The monitor connected via Display adapter is not in color, and comes up as black and white. When booting up, the windows 7 logo appears on both screen, and both screens are in color. The other monitor through DVI-D works fine. There are no artifacts, however when I unplug the display port, then unplug the DVI-D, then try to plug the DVI-D back in, it produces, usually, a white screen. I would have two DVI monitors but haven't upgraded yet. Some knowledge would be much appreciated!

What drivers? the ones that came with the card? If so they may be out of date, check and try either the 14.4 from the AMD website, or the 14.7 beta (there's another beta coming. If no joy try the 13.251 drivers, that's what I had to go to on a number of two monitor setups with th R9 cards

I installed the drivers included with the GPU, which version I'm not sure. I then updated to the BETA 14.7, with same results. However I can't go any further with that card....because around that time is when I saw that the card had damage on the back of the GPU's circuit board. There was some sort of corrosion or water damage, so I RMA-ed that card. However when I get the replacement card and if I have similar issues, I will try the 13.251 driver. Along with any others to find compatibility.

Hello again! So the new card is finally in! Unfortunately I've got tons of bad news. Firstly with the more relevant stuff. The driver that comes with the card was the suggested driver (13.251). I'm getting similar results, where the screen that is connected with a VGA --> Display adapter, is still showing with no color when the desktop rolls around. However is in color on bootup with the windows logo. I'm starting to think it has something to do with the adapter but that doesn't fully explain it. So I still have a black and white screen.

In hindsight I should have just kept the first card...the rest of bad news is as follows: I'm surprised this card works, based on the sole fact of the massive dent from UPS's shipping methods leaving the top of the box with huge dent, and opening the flap on top exposing the goods. I feel like the laws of physics were bent here. The card itself had a bunch of wonderful marks on it, and the back had the same sort of damage I thought I sent in the first one to get replaced for. I'm very frustrated at this point, with Newegg and ASUS.

Actually I just stumbled over the answer. I think a lot of these new cards have this problem for some reason, because of a simple bug. The adapter is fine, considering it worked just fine in my old GPU. After a bit of investigating, I ended up in the Catalyst Control Center. Assuming that people that have/had this problem are using an adapter, the screen with the issue will be under 'My Digital Flat-Panels", and click on "Display Color". I noticed for some weird reason the saturation was 0, hence no color. So.....insta-face-palm. :pt1cable:

Darn! That easy?

Actually I wanted to see what that looks like so I opened CCC and turned the saturation to 0
and it looks super cool. My brain keeps filling in the colors in a lot of places
