Best budget 120hz or 144hz monitor?

I'm looking for a monitor that can display at least 120hz, but something that is reliable, a good make and is ideally cheap (less than £250/$407). I'm going to be using the computer mainly for gaming.

Also, can 3D monitors like the ASUS VG248QE only display images in 3D, or can they show 2D too?

What about the BenQ XL2411Z 24"? It's around the same price

Well i own the ASUS one so i can only speak about what i own but you can read the reviews about it that's what i do before buying.

I've decided to go for the XL2411Z. It seems to get great reviews from most people, and it is slightly cheaper than the VG248QE.
