"Wifi doesn't have a valid IP configuaration." shows up when I troubleshoot why my wirless connection isn't working. The wireless is working on every other device in the house and Ethernet works on the lap top as well. No changes have been recently made and I checked to see if Windows (8) need updated and that's good as well. Is this a bad wireless card or something else?

Must be a setting in the router somewhere then. But strange that others can get online

Yes it is. Even stranger that Ethernet is working and not the wireless on my computer. This kept popping up on my EventViewer:
To enable the DHCP allocator on this IP address, change the scope to include the IP address, or change the IP address to fall within the scope.

Is it an event id 30013 error?

Try this http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.a...

To automatically reconfigure the IP address, disable and then re-enable either ICS or the Routing and Remote Access NAT component.

To disable and re-enable ICS

In Windows Explorer, click My Network Places.
Right-click the ICS adapter that you want to share, and then select Properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
In the Internet Connection sharing area, clear the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection box, and then click OK.
In the Network Connections window, right-click the ICS adapter, and then select Properties.
Click the Advanced tab.
Select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection box, and then click OK.

You can disable and then re-enable the Routing and Remote Access NAT component by opening Routing and Remote Access in Administrative Tools.

Is ICS ticked?? It shouldnt be ticked. And I dont think it will work if ethernet is still connected.

I checked the ICS to see if it was sharing and it is. I'm not sure what ticked means.

I must have missed this the first time I read through the post, but I went to the Routing and Remote Access in Admin tools and the startup type was disabled so I switched it to Automatic. I rebooted the computer and the wireless is working now. Thanks a ton!
