Hi guys, and ladies. I'm really close to getting 2 new gigabyte r9 280x s for 70$. So, here is a build that I hope will accommodate the cards. And yes, i will be upgrading the CPU in the future. My goal was for the rest of the build to cost only 500$ in CAD. I have the optical drive and HDD already.
Where can I improve? And will what I have work?
Thanks fellow pc lovers :)

I agree it will be an improvement, just don't expect to play any CPU intensive games until you get an i5. Some games will run perfectly fine, others will stutter VERY badly and be unplayable. Regardless you will really only get the power of one 280x until you get an i5.

Okay that is what I think you should go with if you will be upgrading to a better CPU. I changed the CPU Cooler to something far better for both noice and cooling reasons. You will be able to OC that G3258 really well :) Then I doubled the capacity of your HDD for $3 I believe it was and then last but certainly not least. THE PSU. The CX, HX, and RM PSUs from corsair are just soso overpriced for their quality that its ridiculous. The PSU I chose will be perfect :) But I really really do suggest you get a 850W PSU for OCing and Crossfire 280x's

Sorry but this post does not make any sense. Op is purchasing two cards not three and the motherboard will accept crossfire x2. The power supply he chose is 80+ Gold. Be it 750w the recommended minimum for crossfire, still the brand Corsair rebranded Seasonic is just as good.

The two cards will cost him $70 if i read correctly. Just for now to get the computer running the cheap cpu will do until he upgrades which he stated.

Everything else is fine, the psu however you changed to a lesser Bronze model to what he had previously listed despite suggesting an 850w afterwards.

Mikes0404: The only thing i would change is to a higher watt psu, to an 850 as suggested from a good brand.

The Corsair TX units use an OLD design which was great 5 years ago. Even Seasonic doesn't use it anymore. They only sell it to other companies.

The Antec is a better unit despite the bronze rating. It is important to remember the Gold/silver/bronze ratings don't mean ANYTHING in terms of quality.

I agree, there are some garbage psu's out there to claim all sorts however Corsair along with other quality brands with a higher reputation wouldn't purposely profit on deception. Not saying Corsair are perfect, they and all other reputable counterparts do have their set backs now and again but they do uphold their QA majority of the time.

The question op was referring to was to get a build up rather quickly to acquire those two cards for peanuts. He's aware of the weak cpu, but he obviously can't budget a better cpu at this time. His psu in my view was the only thing needing to be improved upping the wattage which i agree with what has been suggested a 850W from a good brand.

Corsair does some of the most deception of all PSU makers...

the CX line in bad. That is a fact.

They also do some REALLY tricky things within a single line of PSUs. The RM line for example. The 450 and 1000 released first. They are VERY good quality and reviewed well. Then the 550 and 650 come along and are also VERY good. Everyone wanted a 750 and 850 so they delivered a mediocre 750 and 850w unit which fails to meet Gold standards, uses the Cheap capacitors from the Cx units and lies about it all on the packaging.

Nothing against Corsair, but they have been doing this for YEARS. Started back in 2008 when they released the cx400 (seasonic built). Everyone wanted more from this new "cx" line. Corsair delivers CWT made units for the rest of the line with cheap knock-off capacitors.

what boju's saying is right. Budget wise, I really want to get these cards cause it can save me hundreds. As long as the pc will work i'm fine with using the g3258 and with an aftermarket cooler so I can overclock it for all of its juice. I'm ok with getting a better 850w psu such as an antec because I know it's very important. I f I can get away with this build and the pc working, even if I get less performance out of the gpu's, then when i have enough i'll switch to an i5 and that should handle it.

Even playing at medium and high settings you will get stuttering with that CPU. It is the fatal flaw of it and people are ditching them very quickly. You can already get them used on Ebay and Amazon for $50. For a temp solution, it will work mostly, but I wouldn't want to live with it for more than a few weeks.

yea but i really don't think I can fit an i5 into the budget right now. And if I have to ill turn down the game settings. Trust me, I really don't want to pass this up. And if you check my profile you'd see that even the Pentium would feel like such an improvement to what i'm using now.
