I'm building a system for my wife and may need a monitor (If I don't use an all-in-one chassis)

Sitting next to me is a little used TV, a Visio M260MV, 26", HDMI and VGA (HD-15) input, 400 candles per meter squared, 5ms response time, 150 v, x 160 h viewing angles, and 1080p resolution on a 16:9 screen and with 75mm VESA. My laptop is too old for HDMI out to test it/

Should this work as a monitor?

Anything I should be worried about?

Thanks.

Found a VGA cable and it works, but the resolution looks disappointingly low. no better than my laptop which is effectively worse since it is so much larger.
