So ive just purchased the 5820k along with the MSI SLI X99 Board havent decided about ram yet as its still very expensive.

What do i need to know about moving up to X99? ive read about it but feel like there are some hidden facts about the new chipset that may be good or bad.

Ive always gotten ASUS's boards but for the reasons of being very expensive and not available anywhere where i dont have to be put in line on a waiting list, ive decided to go with the full featured MSI X99 board, i have read good things about it.

Thanks

Splendid
The X99 brings in DDR4 and the option to go beyond 4 cores. There is also the option to run 2 video cards at x16/x16, but that depends on the type of CPU you get. The 5820K only has 28 PCIe lanes so it's x16/x8 in SLI or CFX. The 5930K and 5960X has 40PCIe lanes and can do x16/x16.
X99 also have M.2 and SATA Express which was already available on the more wallet friendly socket 1150. Some 1150 boards have PLX chip and they too can run SLI or CFX in x16/x16.
Cheapest Asus X99 board is the X99-A

Thanks for all the info, Yea i saw the Asus X99-A i currently have there z77 Pro version. But the problem is niether of them are in stock anywhere. All say atleast 2-3 weeks as of yesterday before shipping out. I cannot wait that long. My system is apart and ive sold my old components I need it for CADD projects and school along with my gaming which is least important. SO i read up in the MSI SLI X99 and saw good things and pulled the trigger, in you opinion should i have waited?? I read it was more along the lines of a workstation board anyways which i also prefer.

Thanks
