I have a Dell computer desk top. It is probably about 6 yrs old. A couple of years ago I got an apple computer and disconnected the Dell, disconnected the monitor, printer, speakers, etc and stored it in a closet. Soon after I spent about 2 years in and out of the hospital. Now because of important files I have in the Dell, connected it, and trie to start it but nothing will come on except the green light that indicates the power is on. Nothing else comes on. The screen is blacken, no fan, nothing else. What can I do to get it to boot up ???

Sounds like the Power Supply has failed.... you may have to replace it, but try resetting the BIOS with the battery removed for 5 to 10 minutes before replacing it... it would be best if you replaced it with a new CR-2032 battery but first see if the old one still works. If no go, replace the PSU.

If everything fails and you can't get the Dell computer running, you can always remove the hard drive and connect it to the Apple Computer via USB adapter or enclosure... and dependng on the file formats you may have to install some type of file format, or ntfs file system reader, of Microsoft Office for Mac.

Open it up. Unplug all the leads and plug then all back in. It might be one has worked its way loose. Its also possible dust is shorting something out so give it a good blow :) (professional)

Beyond that its likely to be the motherboard or PSU has gone bad, but don't worry you can still access your data by plugging the drive into another machine
