I have this problem where all games have this problem where the game has frame juddering and the only way to fix it is to limit the framerate to 60 in RivaTuner even though my refresh rate is 60 so I don't know why this would change it. Is there any other way to fix this because it doesn't seem like I should have to do this to fix it.

More about : forced limit framerate smooth gameplay

Post your build in complete detail. including monitor and OS

Tell us the game and settings and monitor resolution

Enable vsync. Sometimes a too high fps can cause misalignment and dropped frames which will look like either tearing or judder. If fixing it to 60fps Max solves the problem then vsync should do an even better job

CPU: Intel i5 4670K
GPU: GTX 780 SC
RAM: 8GB
Monitor: Asus VS247H-P
OS: Windows 7 64 Bit
Anti Virus: Avast 2014

It happens on all games.

I do have vsync on when it judders. It looks like the frame freezes for less than half a second.

What fps are you getting when this is happening? Is it happening in fully offline games too? It could be lag

It happens in offline and online games. It will happen even if the game is running at 60fps. The game can not be intensive at all and it will still do this. For example I tried this games demo and it still did it. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/haggardgames/death...

Try a different monitor and cable.

Try a different graphics card

I have another pc I have tried these games on and It has a different GPU, CPU, monitor and cable and it still happened.

So - two different PCs with the same problem. Common factors? - CPU, Router, ISP

Monitor?

Both PCs are using a DVI cable and I have tested an HDMI cable and the same thing happened.
Both PCs are hooked to the same router one with a wire and one with wireless. but I have also tried turning off the wi-fi adapter on my main pc and it didn't solve the problem.
Really the only thing I can relate it to is the graphics driver which is the same across both.

It is more in the settings man. You have a powerful GPU and you should not experience any problem with that. Try to enable sync every frame if there is any, this will remove game stuttering.

I find this problem weird because with vsync off in most games I will get well over 60fps never going below. What I will try right now is setting pre rendered frames for the GPU and see if that works.

Absolutely, try the default settings of the game and see if it works fine. Enabling V-sync will reduce your frames but it will allows you to have a smooth gameplay.

Increasing the amount of GPU pre rendered frames did nothing to fix it.

Well to know exactly your problem, tell us what games are you playing and what settings do you use. Maybe it will be clearer if you play AC4 or COD Ghost because I can clearly guide you on how to have a smooth gameplay for both games.

Right now I am testing Splinter Cell Blacklist, Death to Spies 3 demo (easiest to test), and Tomb Raider which doesn't have the pauses but it still looks jumpy and not smooth if I don't lock the frame rate.

Haha, even the Tomb Raider? I think you should get 90FPS for Tomb Raider in your build.

I do with vsync off. I just tried adaptive vsync and it seems to fix it. I just don't think I should have to force adaptive vsync to fix it. I am thinking it is a graphics driver problem.

If you don`t experience stuttering then it is OK.

I just want to know why this would be the case. Do you think it could be the OS?

Why would you suspect the OS. By the way what Power Supply are you using?

I just asked about the OS because it was the last thing I could think of.

The PSU is a Corsair CX600M.
