so i currently have a gtx 660 sc installed and running on my pc i was wondering if i could use my tv as a second monitor however it only has a VGA input. so my question is if i hooked up the vga to my mobo and have my first monitor on dvi hooked up to gtx 660 SC and then my second monitor (my TV) hooked up via a VGA via mobo would it work?

Via motherboard, no. Just grab a VGA to DVI adapter.

You'll need to connect it with the GPU. Grad VGa to dvi adapter. Make sure you get a DVI-I to VGA. Not DVI-D to VGA. MOst of the DVI-D to VGA is nothing but BS.

Depends on the mobo actually. Also don't confuse a vga to dvi with a dvi to vga adapter. Dvi-d to vga is not bs, they are made for converter boxes not gpus.

You can use the mobo and your graphics card at the same time.

It depends on your motherboard and your graphics card. AMD cards (well, their drivers) have horrible hissy fits when you plug a second monitor into the motherboard that take an insanely long time to fix if you haven't seen it before. (They also have hissy fits when you plug a second monitor into a DVI port using a VGA adapter, but hey.)

It's only a first time occurrence - after you fix it, you can unplug and replug however much you like.

Good to hear it's not a universal issue, though... but I've encountered it twice, once with a 7850 and once with a new r7 260x.
