I am fairly new to the hardware side of things and I am looking to build my own PC in the next few weeks. I would like to start off with a low level price for my parts at the moment. I think I should begin with the CPU first correct? What are the important factors in a CPU I should be looking for?
Thanks!

My plans for the moment are primarily for coding in my computer science classes. I might do some low end gaming but that's not the priority right now. I just want to make sure that I get the right parts to match the CPU. I read that some hardware is only compatible with some CPUs is that correct?

CPU and mobo have to match. mobo and ram have to match. cpu cooler and mobo have to match. graphics car will have to fit in case - it should fit any mobo. power supply will have to match graphics card and other components power wise.

Using PartPicker does most of this matching for you.

Great, thanks for your help so far. I have decided that I will be moving with the Intel G3258 for CPU. Like I said before, I mostly need it for studying and coding for my computer science classes. Would this be a good enough CPU for the situation? Or should I be looking for something else?

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ This is my parts for the moment. I'm trying to go as cheap as possible without going with the absolute worst policy. Any suggestions?
