If you can afford the Z97-K or A version I would go with that instead. That being said I would also get a case that supports a full ATX board.

Latest chipset and a full sized board with more features.

BITFENIX COMRADE is on that website...try that and whatever Asus motherboard you can afford.

Will the board i have chosen myself be good enough? I don't want to do crossfire.

I mean it's fine...I think you just have to update the Bios to overclock. It's a smaller board for the mATX case that you originally chose.

I dont think an i5 is an appropriate processor for only a 1k build.

i5 can keep up with even the fastest gpu's, and your slapping all that money into an unlocked i5, and only running a 270x. move some money around, grab an i3 and get a better card or go amd. 1k is too cheap for unlocked i5 unless you plan to spend atleast another 600 in the 2 years or if you are planning to run 144hz montitors. but if your running 144 your gonna need a better card anyway.

imho:

in:
ASUS H81M-PLUS $85
CORE i5 4460 $230
NVIDIA GTX770 - 2GB DDR5 256-BIT $370
Total: $685

out:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor $270
Cooler: ARCTIC COOLING FREEZER 7 PRO $40
Motherboard: ASUS B85M-G $105
GIGABYTE AMD R9 270X OC – 2GB DDR5 256-BIT $235
Total: $650

PS: A Haswell i5 ( i5 4460) will be enough for ANY single gpu.

I see nothing wrong with getting the best CPU at this point and using a 270X. Filippi's makes sense with the processor and motherboard but there's really no reason to buy a 770 at this point. Let alone a 2GB one.

It is a great GPU but with the 970 out you might as well wait for the price to drop because currently as it stands the performance of the newer card and cost is much better. Plus if your paying that much might as well get the 4GB version.

Anyway here a great $1k Australian gaming build. imho op should forget Crown Computers.
