Newegg is tossing me estimates pushing upwards of 700W to run this card with any general configuration, yet the manufacturer reccomends a 500 w.

I currently have a Athlon II 265 dual core
4 GB DDR3
1 HDD at 7200 RPMs.

Should the card work? Newegg's estimates seem way WAY off.

Also upgrading to a 6 core 95w processor, new MOBO, new HDD, and a 700 w power supply in the near future.. Newegg was tossing out estimates of 860 w PSU.

Yeah, I learned my lesson with shoddy PSUs. Only get decent quality now. Yeah.. I figured newegg's calculator was overestimating. I do want to crossfilre and upgrade the ram on it. The 260X seems like a darn decent little card. I'm wondering what the difference will be to my current....

don't laugh...

I'm running a r9 290 on a 430w Corsair 80 plus bronze modular psu. I'm sure that's more than plenty. Not to mention I have a i5-4670k @ 4Ghz cooled by a Corsair H100i. This website allowed me to check if my psu was able to handle r9 290. MSI PSU Calculator

Your probably wondering why I have a 430w?
Truth was I was considering building a $800 mini-itx build with my prodigy. Note this was gonna be my second build. So I purchased everything expecting that I'd at least get a r9 270x, which only like needed 300 watts maximum, so i just opted to get the cheapest psu I could get that was 80 plus bronze. Later I found some good deals on a r9 290, and I decided that I couldnt get the same performance gpu as my first build: XFX DD BE Radeon 7870! Beast Card!

Yeah. No kidding. 9600 is old as dirt and has more dust lodged in various crevices than I would like to admit to. There's probably 7 generations of dustbunnies in there that no amount of air shot from any speed would get out.
