I am looking for an intel i7 build that can be used to edit GoPro 1080p videos and for light gaming. I am trying to stay around $800. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

You could try this. The Xeon has hyperthreading just like the i7, but it is clocked a little lower. Also dont expect ultra gaming with this build. You could buy new titles on around high, depending on the game.

This setup should cover your needs and it's around $750~$850 depending on where you buy parts from. You can upgrade two more sticks of RAM for 32GB total but most editing won't exceed 12GB as far as I'm concerned. Later on maybe upgrade to an SSD for faster speeds.
