Hey everyone, what would you do with your setup. I have the opportunity to upgrade to the EVGA GTX 980 ACX 2.0 free of charge with step-up.

Or should I keep my 780 Dual Classified...which has a higher clock and maybe better temps?

or should I go with the 980 ACX 2.0...idk how to overclock but sure i can learn. Can i clock it to something comparable to the 980 classified coming out later?

I plan to SLI either card 2-way, so which should I go, to dual classified 780's or two ACX 2.0 980's no superclock on them...?

Solution
980 is considerably a better performer than both 780 and even 780 Ti, you'll not even need to OC it. Its presently THE best from Nvidia in GTX series, ACX is an absolutely awesome card both for temps and for OCing.

p.s. the 780 is on sale right now (to buy a second for SLI which i have $ for) for $499 on newegg with discount.

however this 980 is a free upgrade, and then can use the same money plus maybe another 100 to sli another 980....which should i do?!

great response thank you!

if I do plan to overclock this particular acx 2.0 card, would it be possible to get it to the SC or FTW or even classified speeds by myself? would it make it any different doing that vs buying it already SC? please if someone could give me a detailed response on this, it should solidify my decision. Just want to know what i would exactly miss out on this vs a SC version which they do not offer in step-up program

The basic thing is: THIS CARD IS A BEAST. It simply will not need OCing, as it doesn't have to compete with any other GTX. I've not seen much reviews of OCing ACX but they're generally good OCers. You certainly can take the clock higher, but you simply don't need it.

Anyways, yes it'll OC good.
