Hey all, I had to buy a 270x a few months ago due to my 570 dieing a death. I've ever been a fan of ATI and with the new GTX970's being released I'm tempted to give the 270x to my son and buy a GTX970. Am I just throwing my money away? I only game at 1080 so frame rate should be fine with either but I really want to avoid buying another card for a couple of years.

Thanks in advance!

R9 270x vs GTX 970. Definitely the winner is GTX 970. But for 1080p gaming R9 270X is plenty. Rest is purely your call. If you have budget then grab GTX 970 otherwise stick with 270x.

Hey,

it would probably depend on the on your CPU but the GTX 970 is a very good upgrade. Even at 1080 p games are getting more and more demanding so it's not going to be a waste at all and I'm pretty sure it will last you for at least 2 years.

And the 970 is a very energy efficient card - easy on PSU & won't create a lot of heat. It is positioned between 780 & 780Ti for performance. Can you tell I'm drooling? ;-)
