Graphic cards not working/dying immediately

I have issues keeping my system running, seemingly just a part goes out or in the recent case, a string of GPUs failing. Last night a friend attempted swapping a known working GPU in mine and it failed to power on, while mine was dead in his build. The first card worked for a month, then died, with a few other components like my mobo and HDD. I returned all of them and PSU, then put it back together again only to have a new card die yet again. I seemingly cannot get any card to produce signal, and now a working card does not work in my system. What is at fault for this aggravation?

Build:
MSI 970 Gaming AM3+
AMD FX 8350 Black Edition
Gigabyte R9 270x
2x4GB G. SKILL RIPJAWS 1600mhz
ASUS Wireless Adapter
Wetern Digital 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD
Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB SSd
Corsair HX 750
Corsair Carbide 500r

the only thing I can guess is that maybe you're PCIe slot has somehow gone bad and is somehow managing to burn up cards. Did you use the correct power connectors to hook up the graphics card(s)? Everything in that system seems to be in order just fine. The power supply is of good quality, the motherboard seems to have pretty good reviews across the board.
