I just purchased a new Canon printer (Pro-10), and I'm was looking for advise on which driver I should use. I believe I've read articles in the past that said most times just use the driver from Microsoft, except on major hardware components. I'm wondering if this is one of those exceptions? Should I use the driver provided by Canon?

I have a Windows 8.1x64 machine.

Thank you for your help.

The drivers provided with Windows are often identical to or derived from the core components of the manufacturer's own drivers. Manufacturer drivers may be needed to enable additional functionality, and may be accompanied by a control panel. In most cases, I would recommend using the manufacturer's drivers as they may also be more recent.

Thank you very much for your help. I went with the manufacturer's driver on this one and all seems to be working perfectly well.
