Hello :)

I have a question, now i've googled my motherboard name ( i retreived that via CPU-Z) and apparently it supports:

AMD AM3+ FX™/Phenom™ II/Athlon™ II/Sempron™ 100 Series Processors

Do you think that AMD Piledriver FX-4 Quad Core 4300 will work ok in this?

I dont want to waste money if they're incompatible. Lack of sleep tends to do this to me, my brain is in derp mode!

Current CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965. Socket AM3.
Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LX V2

Help would be greatly appreciated :)

Solution
Your AMD Phenom II X4 965 should actually perform similarly to the FX4300 in 90% of cases.

It would not be an upgrade, may even be a downgrade.

Compared the two on CPU Boss or whatever its called just now, i think you're right. CPU Boss indicates the 4300 is marginally better (single core performance and value). Thanks for the answer!

Side question: Is the H100i worth it? or is it overrated?

I'll likely wait till the i7's drop in price a bit then get a new Intel build.

If it'll fit in your case, the H100i may be worth it. I bought it for my FX-4350 but it didn't fit in my CM Storm Scout 2 case where I thought it would. Wound up taking it back and getting the H80i instead. I like it, it does a fantastic job of keeping my CPU cool. But I'll also be totally honest - unless you're thinking about some overclocking, you probably won't need it. There's tons of air coolers that are cheaper and will keep the CPU nice and chill. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably have kept the Hyper 212 Evo that I had before the H80i.
