To be honest, I don’t know how to use group policy, but I know other ways to block applications. For example, software like Micro Keylogger can block applications by keywords in process name. Maybe you can have a try if you don’t find good ways now.

There are a multitude of things you can do via GP.

What are you actually trying to do?
Block IE in particular?
Or block web access?
Or block certain websites/catagories?
