hello,

Been thinking of buying another GPU to add to my computer. just wondering if my hardware is good enough to support crossfire though. As of now i have 1 r9 270x, thinking about getting a second one. running at 1080p

here are my specs:
i5 4690k @ 4.5 ghz
8gb corsair vengeance RAM 1600mhz
msi z87 g43 gaming mobo
silverstone strider plus 500w(think this is whats gonna set me back as i dont think it has enough 6pin power connectors)

plz let me know what needs upgrading. thank you

No, check this link:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

One PCIE slot runs at x16, the other only runs at x4...so the motherboard can't handle crossfire r9 270x. Also, you would need a better PSU.

So, better motherboard and PSU. The rest looks fine.

500w isn't enough for two 270x ...even w my 620w antec I'd be cutting it super close and would have to remove my CPU oc to handle it..

Also NBSN makes a great point the mobo PCI lanes werent designed with xfire in mind ...you want 2 8x lanes or one 16 and one 8

DUAL** haha

yes i also forgot to mention my PCIE lanes.

thank you both for your input. highly appreciated.

i guess ill just stick to this single GPU set up, or even upgrade to a higher end single GPU. in which ill probably still have to upgrade my PSU
