Try re-installing the sound adapter driver. You can download it from Toshiba's website. If it's a European model laptop, go here & enter it's serial number (printed underneath) or click "Auto Detect": http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/SUPPORT_PORTAL/
For non-European laptop models, go here and choose the region then the country: http://www.toshiba.co.jp/worldwide/region/index.html
