Is 750w psu enough for crossfire r9 280x?

Hello,

So i have a xfx pro 750w core edition semi modular psu.

I have 1 sapphire toxic r9 280x and I'm planning on buying a second sapphire toxic r9 280x.

I also have a fx 8350 at stock speeds. Is 750w enough for two r9 280x?

The FX 8350 rig in my signature is similar to yours and pulls ~650-700w under full CPU and GPU load in Crysis 3.

750w will likely be enough...just barely. Personally, I'm using a 950w Silver PSU by PC Power and Cooling because I prefer a bit of overhead for safety and efficiency.

I recommend you check out the Extreme Power Supply Calculator - lite version (FREE for PERSONAL use). You can plug in your system details and it gives a fairly accurate estimate of your power use and recommended PSU wattage.

The PSU is fine, but it'll be really close, no headroom at all. You should consider 850W atleast for CF 280X.

Agreed, a little too close for comfort. It will work I'm sure, but it will shorten the life of the supply to run near the top end like that.

"AMD R9 280X - On your average system the card requires you to have a 550 Watt power supply unit.
AMD R9 280X Crossfire - On your average system the cards require you to have a 750 Watt power supply unit as minimum.
If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina."

You can run the rig with your current PSU if you keep OC low to moderate. If you're going to OC aggressively
look for a more powerful PSU.
