Disk management shows all the disk partitions, but cannot access them from explorer?

On of my friends tried to install Ubuntu(14.04) along with Windows 7. He probably installed it over the partition containing Windows, because after that, Windows was not available. So, he'd to install it again.
Now, the problem is that, the only drive he can see in "My Computer" is C:, but all other partitions show up in Disk management, and they are not empty, or unallocated. On right clicking the partitions though, the only option that is not grayed out is 'Delete Volume'.
How do we fix it?

Thanks!

Any distribution of Linux (OpenSUSE, Ubuntu, etc.) will use file systems and partition types that Windows will not understand. As a result, the only option available in Disk Management is to delete the partitions.

I'd only worry if you had a data partition you wanted available to both Windows and Ubuntu, and it is now showing up this way.

So, is deleting the partitions the only way to use it again?
