Hello. I have a 3 year old alienware, with a nvidia gtx 560m in it. Couple on months ago my computer started freezing with white screen and lately it just pops up different colours and still freezes. My gpu temp isnt extremly high (usually about 60 degrees) so I dont think its overheating. When I went to the tech support they just told me that the gpu chip is dying and i should get a new card (if anyone thinks there could be another reason like some kind of driver issue or virus please tell me). So now here is where I need help. I did a little research online to find out many conflicting opinions that now I am really confused. I read some people opinions that R3 alienwares won't run nvidia cards above the 500 series. Some said that it's just not gonna support 3D anymore (yes i have 3D screeen). I also read that there could be some voltages conflicts between card models etc, so now I am really lost. Could anyone put some light to this and help me out in picking new gpu, since its kinda urgent as my laptop just freezes quite often (twice per day).
Thanks in advance
Peter

Your best bet and I would say only option would be to replace it with the same card. Without doing long hours of research to find out what card will and wont fit and make sure cooling is adequate. You also need to look at power draw and see if the batter can support it. Laptops are not like desktops they are very stingy when it comes to replacing parts that are not original to the laptop.
