Hi,

I've recently done a build and it keeps shutting down mid-use, particularly mid-game. This began happening within a few hours of me putting it together. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to the GPU.

It works beautifully for a while each time, then cuts out (screen completely loses signal), and the entire computer restarts - but now the graphics card isn't recognised, used or listed under device manager. I have to plug the monitor into the motherboard. It's as if I don't have it.

Without it, the computer runs fine and doesn't encounter any problems or crashes. I've taken the case off when this is happening, and both lights and both fans on the GPU are going but the computer doesn't see it. I have to shut down completely to get it back - just restarting manually makes no difference.

I'm quite puzzled by this. I ran Open Hardware Monitor and tested it but couldn't see anything obvious amiss (e.g. overheating). All the drivers are up to date. Any suggestions?

My 'rig':
-- Asus GTX 770
-- Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H
-- Intel Core I7-2600K
-- Akasa AK-PA085AM05-UK Cobra 850W Power Supply
-- Windows 7, 64 bit (with all updates)

That cheap PSU could also be the problem, the PSu is made by Sirtec and they aren't known for making the best power supplies. 850w or not an unstable PSU(ripple dirty power) will cause the issue you are seeing especially where it happens under a gpu load. Try another similar gpu if possible and/or test the current card in another system.
