I'm looking for clarification concerning why it supports Xeon processors yet no ECC memory. I'm interested in this board for Ubuntu server.

Here's the link to the manufacturers page on this mobo:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/Core/Q87/X10SLV-Q.cfm

To save you a click it says:
Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 v3 and 4th Gen Core i7/i5/i3, Pentium, Celeron processors
Single Socket H3 (LGA 1150)

2x 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM sockets
Supports up to 16 GB DDR3 non-ECC SODIMM

Solution
I would wager this motherboard doesn't support ECC memory to keep costs down. ECC enabled chipsets from Intel come at a higher price, even though it's a disable/enable switch from what I understand, not a hardwire/physical difference.

From the feature set and what it's intended uses are, I believe this motherboard is aimed for a more 'budget' oriented server or low power workstation where the added cost and minor performance hit of the ecc ram might be a deciding factor.
