Increasing virtual memory

Hello, I'm having weird issues running Archeage.

Running at about 40fps normally with a gtx 460 but everytime I rapidly turn the camera it drops to like 10fps. Some guy told me to increase my virtual memory, which I sort of did.

I thought I increased it and restarted my computer and now it says this in the advanced tab: "Total paging size for all drives 1280MB" which I'm pretty sure it was 4000 something before the restart, so not sure what happened there.

Then I did 5000 initial to 10000 max (just punched in random big numbers) and set that to C: with no computer restart but I notice no difference in-game (however, I did set it while the game was running)

Any pointers on how to make this run better? I'm not sure why it's dropping 30fps just by moving the camera.

More about : increasing virtual memory

I would not increase virtual memory for the game...as it should not actually improve fps. If your system does not have enough virtual memory set to run all of the code it needs to...if your virtual memory is not already enough for doing that then increasing it will help a bit..but nothing drastic. It would pretty much just help the game run...and not actually run the game itself.

What are the rest of your system specs?

I would say to do a few things...

1. Reset your virtual memory so Windows can control it/or to default (whatever the option is).

2. Run disk cleanup and defragment

3. Close/stop any unneeded program from running in the background

4. Run anti virus and malware scans

5. Run all the updates for your system, gpu, os, game, etc.

6. Turn down settings in the game

7. Make sure PC is clean of dust

8. You can also check CPU and GPU usage.
Those things may help a bit...or it just might be your hardware...don't know specs so can't say.

after consulting someone, they said the same thing.

i actually just ordered a gtx 760 for $210 from amazon so i'm hoping this will fix it but supposedly this guy (who's rig is like $3000 with a $1000 graphics card) says he still has somewhat of the same issues so i'm assuming it's badly optimized.

Well I played in the three of the betas and it ran just fine for me. I have a better system...but still. The game uses CPU more than GPU...so that is possibly the issue. Also you probably just need to tweak the graphics settings.

i have the graphics maxed out but my processor is AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor 2700MHz 6 cores

if that sucks then i need to quickly cancel my order lol

Part of your issue with the GPU is the clock...I would suggest getting the clock to at least 3 but preferably around 3.5 GHz. What is your current GPU and RAM?

8gb ram and i'm not sure what you mean about GPU or how to figure that out

EDIT: Holy crap, i actually have a gtx 660...i forgot i upgraded it at one point from 460

... Ummm, graphics card...if you open the computer case do you have a graphics card attached to the motherboard PCIE slot?

yes it's attached, i just didn't know what you mean about "clocking" it.

What is the information on the card say it is?

you're talking about graphics card? GHz usually means CPU

my graphics card is upside down so it's hard to read underneath it (the top of the card)

You could also check it using a computer program...but just to make easy looking is the best. Well, you may need a better GPU too then...can't say since I don't know what it is. And I was talking about overclocking the CPU.

figured it out finally.

apparently archeage doesn't like directx11 even though it supports it. switched it to 9 and bam, gone, 40fps

Well, thats good then. Never had the issue myself...but at least you got it working. Have fun.

ArcheAge is simply a terribly written game. XLGames (the developer) is notorious for producing buggy, low quality software. There is nothing that can be done about ArcheAge's performance issues.
