My LCD may be overheating and has become impossible to use. The tcon board may be at fault but I am looking for and ideas on how to correct the problem without buying a new display.
I have a dell monitor with a Samsung Ltm220M2 panel that seems to have a problem related to its internal temperature. When the monitor has been on for (maybe 3 hours Dependant on brightness) the right side of the screen warms up and eventually does something very strange. The monitor is 22inches and when it has heated up a little bit the right 2 most inches of the screen flicker slightly( it is only this part and it does not form a perfectly line it is triangular in shape), the flickering is barely noticeably almost like the brightness is the only thing changing. But then about once a second it looks as if (in the same area as before) every other horizontal pixel row flashes white and then looks fine for a second then flashes. It makes it impossible to get work done. I took apart the monitor and found one of the ribbons connecting the LCD to the tcon board slightly disconnected with the glue missing (on the RIGHT side with about half the ribbon disconnected). My question is why would this ribbon be heating up and is it the problem. Thanks in advance, Jon
