ok.. this may sound stupid, but I was wondering If I build a computer, and played battlefield 4 at max settings ALL THE TIME would It slow my computer down rather than If I played at low settings all the time?

if anyone understands what I'm trying to say here, give me a reply hah

Are you asking if your computer would "wear out" because you used max settings? If so the answer is no. Assuming you didn't install a bunch of stuff running in the background, your performance would be similar for the duration of your ownership. BF4 software might change over time and that could slow your experience but your hardware won't change over time.

Well, it would decrease the lifespan of your GPU, not that it would be noticable though. What is your setup?

Barring pushing components outside of their recommended operating temperatures, nothing you can do on the computer is going to shorten the lifespan of your components. You're still vulnerable to poor circulation, electrical surges, EMF issues, and all the other little stuff, but heat is typically the main driver of component failure over time.

You should be good for at least 3-4 years on ultra settings

That you! :D , that's what I want to hear hah, I spent all my cash on this set up (probably gonna upgrade the mobo and add a cpu cooler for future overclocks and ssd ( when I have the money )

Nice build.. Just remember to clean the inside of the case maybe once in a quarter. And do not install too much S/W that runs on the background. Your PC will have same performance 3 years from now.

I meant software:)  There are softwares that keeps running in the background and slows down the system. Norton is notorious in this respect. I have seen Razer synapse taking up a lot of CPU. Keep a check on programmes running in the background.

Thank you! : ). My friend is building a pc with around the same budget as me, He's thinking of using an i7 instead of an i5, what are the differences in performance between them both and is the i7 worth the extra money? (he's trying to get a i7 that costs £170 or less) He is gonna use the pc for gaming, some recording and some video editing/rendering. what do you recommend?

If he's only doing gaming and some video editing, then it will be a MUCH more economical decision to get the i5. They both have the exact same gaming performance whereas the i7 has hyper-threading which is used in multi-core applications like Sony Vegas and Adobe Photoshop. He should use the saved money to get a better GPU which is actually what matters when gaming.

He's just messaged me on facebook and says he's just going to copy my build but add windows 8.1 in, add a cpu cooler and upgrade the mobo

The cooler is a god idea, f he's overclocking. If he isn't tell him to go with the 4690 and get an H97 mobo without a cooler as that will definitely save him money.
