Hello, I'm new to these forums and I have a big problem with FRAPS--but only recently. I've been recording for months with FRAPS flawlessly. A couple weeks ago, I got a new laptop. Used the same FRAPS settings as my old one and its been working amazing until today. Now instead of the FPS dropping by 5 its dropping to 20 nomatter what (90fps drops to 20fps, 30 fps drops to 20fps...its always 20!). I have tried EVERYTHING! Cleaning hard drive, scanning for viruses, deleting processes...restoring laptop to previous dates when it worked good. Nothing is working.

On my old laptop which is going back to work, using the same settings works amazing. On my new one, it worked amazing until today.

Please help! Im desperate here. And please don't reply "get an external hard-drive" because it worked great without one. Other people are saying my drive is slow but it has even less data from when FRAPS worked perfectly to now.

Hello,

Can't help you much with Fraps but if your new laptop's GPU is nVidia you can use nVidia Shadowplay http://www.geforce.co.uk/geforce-experience/shadowplay which has almost no impact on frame rates. You would get about 3-5 FPS drop in most games. And the software is free.

I have Intel, and this laptop worked with fraps fine until yesterday...so I know its something I should be able to fix but ive tried everything!

V-Sync was already disabled I think. There was only two options (On or Application Settings and it Application settings was checked). I will try updating directx.

Douche thing to say

Check the settings. I only have the freeware, but in the Movies section there's an FPS cap. Make sure it isn't set to 20 and uncheck the lock framerate option. Otherwise something in your computer's software isn't liking FRAPs and I can't help you there... Sorry :r

I checked under Programs and Intel HD Graphic Driver was already installed in 2011. Should I uninstall and reinstall? Can you give me a link to where I can reinstall?

Java is a real pain. I think its update cache gets messed up sometimes. I had that issue before and it sorted itself out at the next update. I really don't know how to fix it, but if you have up-to-date drivers, I doubt you'd need a reinstall imo

I figured Java out, but re-installing didn't help at all

I meant speed as in RPM and MB/s lol Or if you have an SSD, just MB/s. Ghz is a different thing

I think its 52MB/s--also my Fraps problem is KINDA fixed. Its now dropping from 60 to 30 instead of 60 to 19-23. But I'd still like to fix it :/ /

80MB/s would be the average speed of a HDD, I believe. Maybe think about upgrading that? But if it's not as bad now, I'd guess that it'll probably fix itself in time. When you run FRAPs, check your task manager to see if it's using up your resources. Maybe something else is there too

Check the RAM. If it was working great before then failed but everything works fine even the playback... Points to RAM. Open her up and pull the RAM, clean the contacts with and alcohol swap let dry then re-seat them.
