Brand new laptop, it's an Acer Aspire V3-772G-5413. I plug in my headphones and I get a message that says 'Information: Click here to select the type of audio device that is plugged in'

I click it and it brings up the 'sound' box. In the playback tab it just shows the speakers.

I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but I'd like to avoid it if possible

OK. I uninstalled and re-installed my driver but it's not helped anything. I would very much appreciate any insight. Thank you very much in advance.

Neither bumping nor offering to pay for answers is allowed. Please refrain from doing so again. Thanks.

When you selected a device for the input port, what did you select?

I feel like a dumbass but I don't remember. Is there anywhere I could go to check? Apologies about the bumps & such. I appreciate your time.
