I want to get the gtx 970 it is PCI 3.0 but i have been told that it will work in my 2.0 board please help. or what is the best route i should take, would rather not upgrade motherboard but if its for the best can do that as well, thanks.

PCI-e 3.0 is backwards compatible and will work just fine on a 2.0 board. Go ahead and get an EVGA GTX 970 SC http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NI45AUU. You will have no problems running it with your setup.

The best model that is available right now is actually the ASUS GTX 970 STRIX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NJ9BJ8G.

As far as best brand/manufacturer, EVGA is typically the best choice and then followed by ASUS. You may want to avoid the EVGA ACX cooler this go around. There have been a lot of problems with it.

MSI have the best 970s out right now, but if you don't like the colour, the Strix is the next best option. :)
