Edit i changed a csm setting in the bios and it worked. Although now my issue is i have multiple unallocated partitions on my hard drive and 2 which i cannot delete into unallocated. How can i get this drive like out of the box new. Intels secure erase says it does not work in windows 8

I have a 1tb hard drive that originally came with my Lenovo K410 that has OS and recovery partition on it. I cloned the entire disc to my SSD. Now i want to install a bigger SSD and format and sell the smaller one. The problem is i cannot get to my SSD to format it. I have Intel SSD tool box and that only recognizes one disc (whichever one i have connected and or with one got booted on startup) . Disc management from right clicking my computer only shows the hard drive that the computer booted from. I have tried different Sata cords and ports but cannot get both hard drives to show up anywhere at once. The bios seems limited and does not let me set a boot order. It is set to AHCI for the sata controller. BIOS is the only place i can see both drives at once.

Hi mrtesseract. You could try to extend your existing partitions or merge them to create one or two larger ones. There are two ways how to do that with Windows 8 without additional software. Here's a link one of them: http://www.disk-partition.com/windows-8/extend-system-partition-windows-8.html. And the other one is to use Windows 8' "Storage Spaces" and create a "simple storage space" with the partitions. Here's a link with instructions on how to do that: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-configure-storage-spaces-windows-8/

Hope that helps.
