Hello guys and girls, I got a quick question

Im in need of a new CPU so i wanted your thoughts on what i should go for AMD or Intel

My budget is around £300 i'm looking for the BEST CPU i can get for gaming, if that's Intel or AMD, i will be buying the one that's suggested the most 100% as i trust this forum.

Could you people suggest to me what you think is best for gaming id prefer Intel but if there is an amd equivalent then i'm fine with that to, I already have a Evo 212 cooler.

Problem is i have a MSI A55M-E33 Motherboard if i need to upgrade then can you guffest a Motherboard to go with them to.

I forgot to mention i already have a AMD A8-5600K CPU

Thanks a lot people.

G'day mate.

I really don't have any love for either of the two processor giants but, at the risk of AMD fanboy/girl backlash, you have answered your own question. If its a gaming rig at the budget you suggested then Intel has a relative lead over AMD. It is not really up for debate as you will get a relative, if only slight, performance improvement with an Intel i5 CPU over the equivalent AMD offering. In this budget (depending on where you live) you can easily find the highest clocked i5 (from memory 4690k) and have cash left over.

For the sake of impartiality the debate becomes complicated when you start looking at performance per dollar and theories of equivalence. But for "highest performance in a gaming rig Intel comes out in...

Thanks a lot for your time and reply mate i really do appreciate it. So what would you recommend me getting Intel wise and i live in the UK I'm guessing a Intel i5 would not go on my Motherboard right so i'll need a new motherboard to.

Again its debatable even when you have narrowed your choice down to Intel. The 4690k is the flagship of the i5 series. If your interested in diminishing rates of return and performance per -insert currency here- then you may want to do some more independent research.

As for the MOBO:

Budget is a factor then I would recommend the i5-4690k paired with the ASUS Z97-A and for pure performance the playing field becomes much wider again but I would say the top tier ASUS ROG series boards are very good choices. ASUS Sabertooth MARK I if warranties rev your engine.

Have your heard of the Indian returning home to see the pristine wilderness he grew up in turned into a strip-mall? A single tear rolled down his cheek etc. ASRock components do that to me when I suffer the misfortune of seeing them... But that's just me. lol

Getting back on track, I'll second this recommendation, particularly as you already have a 212 Evo.

For £300, an i5 and Z97 motherboard is definitely the way to go. I'd only suggest AMD if your budget was considerably lower.
