Good day,

I've recently built my own desktop and it's working just fine except I'm a bit fuzzy on the LEDs shown at the Ethernet port for the onboard NIC. I know the steady light shows the connection speed and the blinking one indicates network activity, but this NIC (an Intel I217-V) is a Gigabit Ethernet card.

Therefore I expected a green light to indicate the Gigabit connection speed but instead I see an amber/red-orange looking light. Could anyone explain what this means?

Data link is on the top left of the jack. on = link established and blinking means activity. The other led is speed. green for 100mb/s and yellow or orange for 1gb/s, and off is 10mb/s. All this should be covered in your motherbd manual should you forget.

Thank you for the quick reply, it completely slipped my mind to check the manual.
