I want a K70 RGB (I know, I want a Corsair tough, plus LED's for lyfe)
but am undecided on what to get

I currently have a Sidewinder X4 and kinda like the feel of it, but it's non-mechanical. I have nowhere to visit that has displays of these switches. I don't ant Blues, but should I get Red's Or Browns considering I like the Sidewinder X4's feel?

(It's popular, someone has to know what they feel like)

Which switch to go for can be roughly broken down by your usage, this is the general consensus.
Purely gaming - Red
Purely typing - Blues
Mix of the two and/or noise concerns - Browns
??? - Blacks

This page goes into more detail about each switch type.

Hmm...
I understand the only person who can answer this is me myself, but that really helps out a ton, thanks for the link as well. Sadly won't be getting a Cooler Master keyboard though. Good Brand, but Corsair's K70 RGB is just too great to resist. Corsair is the only one with rights to RGB Cherry MX now, but the indepth demonstration on this site should help a ton.
Just wish I had some to sit and press all day so I could decide... I got it down to Red or Brown, but have no idea how linear Red feels, or how tactile Brown feels...

If there is a gamestop/EB Games near to you they will probably have Razer keyboards (in particular the Blackwidow) on display. Its going to be somewhat of a crapshoot whether its using Cherry switches or their own proprietary knock-offs (if your bold you can pull off a keycap and check), but the Cherry versions use MX Blues with the "silent" version using Browns.

The "tactile" feel mainly just says that you can feel the actuation point (where the stroke is registered) of the key-press, while linear means you cant. If you get your hands on a Blue/Brown keyboard, lightly pressing on a key you can feel the resistance about 1/3 the way down, thats the actuation point. Blues also click on the actuation.

some additional info,
blue - nice to type on but too noisy if you have a roommate (my first was a blue)
red - nice but too soft for me (i have this now)
brown - this was my choice but it wasnt available that time. i think it's a good balance between feedback and noise
black - they say it is a bit hard to press (relatively speaking)

Hmm might have to go road-tripping to find some mechanical to try. Maybe a best buy would even let me take one out and try the keys (we got a cool Best Buy)
I get what the actuation point and tactile feels are, I just don't know how much actuation there is and if I'll like it unless I try it :/
I know I don't like Blues, but I gotta decide if I want the soft actuation of Browns or the smooth press of Reds.

Thanks for all the info!

Do you like the Reds? Do you like them more than the heavy and actuating Blues?
I'm not sure, because Red can be great for gaming, but I'm wary of how typing would be on Reds with no actuation point.
Was gaming hard on Blue switches, it will give me a better understanding of what Browns would be like.

reds are ok (though wish i have a brown)
but it is too soft for me. i accidentally left my tshirt on top and the keys were pushed, it is that soft.
blues are nice, however, if you have a roommate it will irritate them.

the brown is a good middleground
