I'm currently using windows 8.1 Enterprise (4 days left for free)

My build:
Z97-D3H motherboard,
a DVD drive,
8GB RAM,
A HDD (342 GB free of 465 GB).

I just used a Asmapoo Burning Studio FREE (Ver. 1.14.5 from 2014/06/02),
To burn a Ubuntu iso file (ubuntu-14.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso, 981MB),
Onto a DVD+RW disk (already erased, total 4.37GB).

I restarted my computer and get into the BIOS,
I choose the "Boot override" option to boot the DVD.

It shows up a "UBUNTU" Loading screen,
But when I thought I've successfully done that correctly, it just turned into black screen!
and the computer no longer response anymore! (I pressed my power button for 5s and shut down)

Ashampoo Burning Studio : here
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (64-bit) : here

I don't think that my DVD drive or DVD-RW disk is broken since I've installed Win8 with them
Also, my BIOS shouldn't have any problems as I've updated it recently.

Not sure but is that file still in the ISO format? If so you still need to burn the DVD?

It is a iso file "ubuntu-14.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso, 981MB as I have mentioned
Do u mean that I should directly copy the iso file into the DVD? Are u sure?

No. You shouldn't directly copy the ISO to the DVD.

If you look at the files on the dvd, do you just see an ISO or do you see a whole bunch of files and folders?

It is like this

OK.

In that case, you probably need to check that the PC is set to boot from DVD, and consider disabling secure boot and enabling CSM/Legacy Mode.

I figured it out, I should rather choose "Boot menu" by pressing F12 rather than choose "Boot override" in the BIOS.

Now I'm in Ubuntu!
