I am unable to connect aspire 5610z laptop running vista to internet using integrated broadcom wireless adapter. Problem appears to be due to a corrupted interface name as per netsh below:

netsh wlan show drivers

  Interface name: ????e??

Driver : Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter

  Provider : Microsoft

netsh wlan show interfaces

There is 1 interface on the system:

Name :
Description : Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter #4
GUID : 6085bf0b-ad4e-4671-b1ce-9384defba38b
Physical Address : 00:19:7e:9c:60:09
State : disconnected

Question: how do I remove this bad name? I have tried uninstalling the broadcom interface completely and reinstalling but the bad name returns. Seems the name is held in the registry somewhere - any idea as to where?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!
