I've had my PC hooked up to my TV for ages and it's been fine, then I lent it to a friend because it was having some problems and he restored it to a previous point. But while it was away I hooked up my fiancées laptop so she could watch netflix on the big screen still. Now when I hooked up her laptop there was an inch of black on the right hand side and everything has shifted an inch to the left. Like you can only see half the start button and any icons on the left most column of the desktop.

Anyway, I have tried different refresh rates and resolutions, I have tried fiddling with the TV's settings, but all to no avail. I have made sure the nvidia drivers are up to date.

I am running vista home premium, a GeForce 9500gt and it's a JVC TV but I don't know the exact model.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am an illustrator and need my PC to display correctly for work and this is such an infuriating problem.

If you have a VGA connection, please check for an auto adjust on the TV.

If you are on HDMI, you will want to adjust the overscan. Normally overscan/underscan issues result in image cut off on ALL sides or a black frame around the full screen.

I'm on HDMI but I don't have an option for changing the screen aspect ratio on the TV's options, when I bring it up all the options are greyed out and it won't let me change it like I can on other AV or normal digital TV channels. It's showing on the TV's PC channel. And like I said it was fine before in this aspect ratio. I don't know why it would just suddenly shift.

It should not have shifted, but something has to have caused it. I have not seen a computer cause this(much less on HDMI), thus I was asking you to look for a TV based option.

Most screens that have a PC setting do it over analog as well.

May be an idea to see if the manual has anything about this.
