I have recently came up with 2 builds what are in the exact price region and i cannot decide what one. The Intel and Nvidia build would be good for the future like an i7 and gtx 770. Also i play lots of nvidia or intel optimised games like Heroes and Generals And Rome 2. However the AMD build has 8gb of ram and an great upgradability potential like the r9 290.

Intel:
I3 4160
ASRock-B85M Pro 4
Kingston value RAM 4GB
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb
Bitfenix Comrade Black Case
LG Dvd Drive
Antec Neo Eco 520w Psu
MSI Gtx 750 Ti

AMD:
Fx 6300
Asus M5A78L
GSkil 8gb Ram
Sapphire R7 260x
Bitfenix Comrade
Antec Neo Eco 520w
LG Dvd Drive
Western Digital 500gb

Solution
Just to clarify, you could use the GTX 750Ti/ 770 with the AMD build just like you could use the R7260X / R9 290 with the Intel build...

If gaming is the objective, I'd suggest to go with Intel, AMD simply can't compete performance wise, and you'll have a better upgrade path regarding CPUs with Intel.

Having said that, you should really try to get the Intel build with 8GB of RAM, 4GB will bottleneck your gaming experience with pretty much every modern game.
