I has just bought this motherboard and did a number of troubleshooting steps before I wrote this. They are as follows:

-All power cords connected properly, ATX too
-Took the board out to bench test to make sure it was not a grounding issue
-Reinstalled the CPU and heat sink
-Cleared then CMOS... twice
-Checked the MEM OK, reset that as well
-Made sure Memory and Video card were in sung
-Made sure memory was in farthest slot, recommended slot, or any slot for that matter

Equipment Specs:

-Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 MB
-Antec 650 PS
-AMD FX-8320 CPU
-EVGA GEFORCE GTX 750ti SC
-Patriot 1600 4GB memory (not my fav, going with what I could get)
-Cooler Master HAF XB EVO (case)
-1TB WD blue

This may be fruitless, but before I take the board back I would like to see if there may be other suggestions. Like I said, I did remove it from the case to make sure it was not a grounding issue, Now, my PSU does have a four prong ATX cord, actually it has two. The slot on the motherboard is for eight prong. I am not sure if that makes a difference, but from what I read it should not. Any suggestion, comments, or concerns are welcome!

One last comment, I did read some information about flashing the BIOS. However, since I am unable to even see video output how is that possible? Intuitively I am assuming it is not. And just to be clear the light that is staying on is the BOOT_DEVICE LED and it is a solid red, not flickering.

So, I finally got the correct memory for my motherboard. The same issue is happening. There is not a post. The 'BOOT_DEVICE_LED' stays red. Once again, I disconnected every cable, bench tested, and preformed all the previous troubleshooting steps I mentioned in the initial post. The only assumption at this point is I purchased a bad motherboard (DOA) from Asus. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

well the motherboard is DOA as you said..time to have it RMA.

I have the same problem, I got a another new mobo and same problem, then I pulled the chipset out and it runs, also tried with chipset in and pulled the 8 pin power off and it runs, but with power and chipset in it shuts down. I bench tested and it still wont work. the chipset I have is the fx 9590. I also got a new chipset today and it does the same as the other chipset. I also tried a new power supply with new cables and still it shuts down, when the lights/leds go through each phase and ending on cpu led then shuts down.

ASUS tech support doesn't even help you, they just keep pushing you for an RMA. BUT THE REAL PROBLEM FOR ALL IS the 3 pin connector for the cpu . That's the culprit, You need to NEVER connect to the cpu power 3 pin male connector to the mobo . You have to use the 3 pin female connector from the CPU on the 4 pin male connector just to the right of it on the MOBO called the cpu fan optional, it is a 4 pin male, but you use the 3 pin female cpu connector there and the embedded slot that places it right direction IS USED leaving 1 pin unused> so spread the word...the 3 pin male connector on the sabertooth FX990 is useless.
