I have just bought a brand new PC, and after placing the motherboard in the case, WITHOUT anything else touching it than the holders. Correctly placed in the cpu, heatsink, Ram (Placed in everyslot to check), Graphics card (Checked it was correctly seated), All of the power plugs were put in fully (24 the 4 and the PCIE). Checked the front panel and everything was correctly plugged in. Can someone please tell me what i've done wrong, this is my first attempt at making a gaming computer!

More about : brand gaming wont start

Is your front panel cable properly connected?

Click on my sig and go through the NO post/boot guide there. You should be able to fix it once you run through the checklist unless a component is faulty.

Pay careful attention to where you plugged the front panel connectors in, check on the mobo manual for the diagram

(PS. RazerZ putting the no post sticky in you sig is utter genius, so much simpler)

I don't really believe any of those are an issue, but the parts are brand new so they couldn't possibly be broken.

Brand new parts turn out to be defective every day! If nothing else, damage during shipment is just one possibility.

Check the schematic anyway. The parts could be broken; just because they are new does not mean they cant be broken. Did you test the build outside the case? You should always do that

Put it on the motherboard box, but the only thing that will really fix is if it is a grounding issue

i'd like to point out that where the standoffs are for my case, not all of the standoffs actually get a screw hole in the motherboard, is something wrong there?

I have attempted to build it outside of the case and the same result occured. I ordered the whole computer and recieved it yesterday, what is most likely the issue, and should i return it to them?

This could be why, standoffs in the wrong spot can cause shorts and scratch up the back of your board. Did you build this yourself?

I also removed the standoffs that weren't under a screw after i attempted it the first time(Even though the Case guide told me to put them there). What problem could this cause?

The standoffs could have scratched up some of the traces on the back of the board or cause a short, check for visible damage. Try booting without the graphics card and the monitor plugged into the mobo (If you have a cpu with onboard graphics). If that does not work try each stick of ram at a time in different slots.

Your motherboard does not support your cpu with the default bios. You will need to update it if it isnt at the latest bios. This could be why it wont do anything

Could you possibly assist me with how i would be able to do that? Would nothing start up at all if the cpu wasn't compatible with the bios?

Only way to update the bios would be to buy a supported chip or take it to a pc shop where they have a supported cpu you could borrow. But I would make sure thats the problem first. I dont know if anything would show or not. You say nothing happens when you turn it on. Does the psu fan spin? You did plug it into the wall right...

I will also note that in motherboard information on the MSI site it says that the motherboard supports the most recent 4th gen i5's. Everything was correctly plugged in, when i press the power button nothing happens at all.

Could you please inform me of the cpu's that are compatible with the bios? I can get a cheap one to check.

It says its supported but it isnt with the first bios revision (Your cpu is a Haswell Refresh chip). It seems odd that nothing at all would happen at all. You turned the switch on your psu on yes? Also make 100% sure that your frount connectors are in the correct slots. Go through the no boot/no post checklist in RazerZ sig again.

Yes the Psu switched was on (Straight line was pressed down), The power switch is definitely in the right spot. I have gone over the list. Touching the inside unpainted metal part of the case is good enough grounding right? The only thing on that list i can see wrong would be the bios not being compatible with the cpu.

Grounding should have been fine. If you have gone through the checklist and check your front panel connectors you either have a dead part or its the bios. Does the psu start (fan spin) Because it seems odd that an unsupported cpu would mean nothing happens.

Nothing happens at all. Should i go to some pc repair shop and ask them if they can get it to work? Or send them back to the store (Which i am reluctant to do as if the parts work i get billed)?

If you have a local pc store you could go there to get some help as you cant get it going yourself.

I attempted checking everything today and i realised that there is no pin in one of the 24 pin main connector! Could this be the problem?

Yep. Is the whole wire missing? Because if its the wire that sends the signal to start the psu it wont work

There is no wire going into one of the slots. At one slot there are two wires going into it i will note.

1) It varies board to board, some default to an integrated gpu and some default to the card. If you plug graphics card in and there is no picture it will have defaulted to the integrated one; plug into mobo and then change the setting in the bios

2) Most pc stores should have motherboard speakers
