my dlink router has max of 150mbps capcity. it showed the same in "network and sharing center" till yesterday, but now

but now it shows only 72.2mbps.........as a result of it my practical speed also dropped from 50mbps to 30mbps...how can i get it back to show the speed as 150mbps so that i can get a practical speed of 50mbps.
my broadband is 100mbps connection
router : dlink N150 DIR600
sys : win 8.1 on i5 processor with Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHZ) wifi card.
both the router firmware and wifi drivers are updated...please help

Most likely your router is now only using 20MHz wide channels instead of 40MHz. Typically it does this when other networks get into the same channel.

i have put it in auto 20/40mhz mode...can you please tell me how to force it to use 40mhz

AFAIK you can't. It automatically dropping to 20MHz actually increases speeds, because it reduces spectrum congestion.
