I'm wondering if my pc specs are good enough to handle current and soon to be released demanding games with ease on ultra settings at high resolutions. Specifically, I want to run games like Dragon Age Inquisition, Battlefield 4 and Crysis 3 type games smoothly.

My specs are:

Intel quad core i7 2600 3.4 ghz

Geforce GTX 750 ftw with 2 gb
(Currently being shipped to me. Have gtx 580 now)

8 gb of ram

Motherboard is Asus but can't remember specs. It's 4 years old

More about : good couple years

It could last 2-3 years. But the 580 = 670 = 760. That could be right or wrong but your 580 should beat your new 750

Yes the specs are good, and yes your new 750 is slower then your old 580.

You have made a GPU downgrade.
The 580 is stronger than the 750.
You have literally wasted your money on the 750.

Main reason why GPU naming schemes are so bad.

That's why you should've asked someone about upgrading it or posted on this forum.
I'm not trying to be rude, but before buying anything, make sure to post a thread and we will help you. ;)

Wow I can't believe that about the GPU. How can a 4 year old gtx 580 be better than a new gtx 750 ftw with 2 gb ddr5? What would be an upgrade in the $150 to $180 range then? I'm so confused by the way they do that gtx number system.

The r9 270x beats the 580 in some games... I would never upgrade to a r9 270x if i had to r9 280x

Why not just keep using the GTX580?

So I'd have to shell out over $200 to get a noticeable upgrade to my gtx 580?

Can you return the gtx 750 if not just sell it to a friend or something. Keep the gtx 580. Yesh $200

I can return it and I will but I'm just trying to understand how a 4 year old card will still beat this new gtx 750. I'm starting to get some slow down on certain games and want the new games to run smoothly especially dragon age inquisition.

The 580 was a top tier card not too long ago, while the 750 is nvidias cheapest entry-level card.

Correct. The first number is simply the generation "prefix". It's the other numbers that denote speed. And in this case 80 is faster then 50. The 750 is certainly more power efficient. But as long as your 580 still works I'd use it.

Well I guess I'll just return the 750 and wait until prices come down for a higher end card that would be worth the upgrade.

you could buy another 580 and do sli if you motherboars support it. it will beat the r9 280x i guess but will be a little more
