Hello,

I recently bought a XFX R9 290X to replace my good ol' HD 6970. Hurray! But, I seem to have a peculiar problem with the card. I have a computer in my living room and one in my office. The one in the living room is my entertainment system for gaming, movies, etc... I often remotely control my Living Room PC (with either Chrome Remote Desktop or Remote Administrator) and that is where the fun beings...

I own a Panasonic TH-42PZ800U HDTV (1080p) and my entertainment PC is connected through a HDMI-HDMI cable to my TV. With my new 290X, my TV is not detected at all when the TV is turned off. Indeed, when I remotely control my PC, it detects two monitors, the first one is a "Mobile PC Display" and the second one is simply named "HDMI"; remember that I don't use multi-displays, there's only my TV connected to my video card. The only resolutions available at that time is 640x480 and the set resolution on my TV, for instance 1920x1080. If I reboot my PC, for whatever reason, I then only have a "Mobile PC Display" with a resolution of 640x480. It is as if my TV was unplugged. As soon as I turn on my TV, I get the desired resolution and my TV is named "Panasonic-TV" (which is normal).

I've also switched the BIOS on the video card (the XFX R9 290X has 2 BIOS, in case one fails, instead of the Uber/Silent modes).

Does the new video cards falls in a kind of "sleep" mode when not receiving signals and disables the video outputs? The card might be defective?

Don't hesitate if I haven't been clear, I think I am, but well, you know how it is...

Thanks a zillion!

Edit: I just thought of something, when I turn off my TV, I hear the Windows 7's "Device Disconnect" sound and the "Device Connect" sound when I turn my TV on.
